Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that delivers the result. Smithtown Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those queries on its own servers. When you contact us, the message content is used to respond to the request.
Automatically Collected Data
Ordinary hosting logs can include an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time of visit. We review this information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand site use. Cookies or similar tools may also support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Information Is Used
Information supports site operation, troubleshooting, traffic measurement, and page improvements. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Websites
Links lead to Smithtown, Suffolk County, New York State, library, archive, and third-party search resources. Their own privacy policies apply to information submitted there. Sponsored-result tools are supplied by a third party and are governed by that provider's practices.
Sharing and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers process relevant server logs for the service. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise only as this policy describes.
Security Practices
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes stated above. There are no site accounts, so this service does not maintain a visitor password or profile.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data a website holds. New York's Personal Privacy Protection Law concerns access to records about oneself held by state agencies; it is not a broad removal right for public records kept by local offices. Because this service retains little information, a request normally means checking its contact mailbox and applicable logs. Use the Contact page. A record held by the Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County, or New York State must be addressed to that record's custodian.
Policy Changes
Updates will appear on this page. Continued use after a posted change means that the revised policy applies.
